RipStik Safety
The most important thing is having fun riding your RipStik. If you do not have fun on the table would not tell your friends about it and the RipStik was going out of business. The second most important thing is safety. The only sure guide for you on the RipStik you keep riding. If you were to drop the RipStik and hit his head without a helmet the damage could be so big that you might not be able to drive for an extended period. If you have a helmet on you can have a headache, but back riding your board, if not the same day, the day after.
The extreme sport movement has established a good showing every professional athlete say a popular event like the X-Games wearing helmets. Helmets are not nerdy or stupid to wear, it's smart. Just look at the pros, everyone wears one and I bet that each have their own stories of the time they hit their head, but thankfully had a helmet. How much more damage would be done without a helmet. Helmets are available in all types of designs and shapes and dimensions. Find one that fits right and looks good. Set up and drive smart.
Security involves more then just helmets though. Horse riding safety is equally important. Most often there is someone better than you that you have the most difficult and dangerous tricks. It is likely that have also been riding longer. Driving Safety means not try something so far out of your skill level you can get hurt. Do not skip directly to the hardest trick on the first day. Work your way up. Start with tricks that are easier and develop all the tricks you already know. You will eventually be able to do the difficult tricks, but if you hurt yourself when you should be feeling can never get to try them.
There are other pads that can be worn as elbow pads, knee pads and wrist pads. These findings are important as a helmet, but can often give you the confidence to learn something new. It can never hurt to throw all of the pads if you're trying to learn a difficult trick. You can minimize the damage if you fall so you can go back and try again. Knee pads are usually always a good idea, because if you need to save off a trick then a safe place to fall is usually on your knees with pads. This is especially true if you're trying to ride on the ramps. Wearing these pads can also give confidence to take your riding to the next level.
Put on your helmet and pads, drive safely and drive safely. We ride the RipStik because it is a breath; we put on skates and helmet to minimize the damage so that we can continue to drive. Chances are you are going to fall and get hurt. If you have pads on you jump up, not sure if you travel you can get up off the sidewalk and on your table for a long period. Drive safely, drive smarter, but have fun .......
