About the Outrage: Stéphane Hessel Reading

What is the outrage? Why are we outraged? Is there a reason for the outrage? How should we channel our outrage? What does the reflection of Hessel on the outrage? Indignation is a feeling that leads to the mobilization against a perceived injustice. That perception is what drives us to mobilize against the source of the problem causing injustice. The outrage acts as a lever to promote changes in society. If we did not feel indignation at the injustice, there would be no social or political changes.

We considered how to redirect the anger does not affect us negatively. The outrage channeled through violence is transformed into anger and hatred. In this context, the outrage is not positive and is highly destructive. His instrumentation can not lead to any place only to a spiral of violence. We reconsider the outrage through nonviolence. We must learn to act without violence and to redirect our anger wisely.

Hessel brings his own perspective on the anger in the book Indignaos! For him, the outrage is a need that is "born of the willingness to compromise with history" and resistance against Nazism or any totalitarian manifestation. Young people should seek reasons for the outrage that encourage social engagement: "Young people, I say look around, find the facts to justify your indignation the treatment of immigrants, undocumented immigrants, the Roma- . You will find situations that will lead you to take a strong citizen action. Seek and you shall find! "This outrage must be linked to a movement of global peaceful insurrection in favor of the defense of human rights in the world and" a veritable insurrection peaceful protest against the mass media do not propose a new horizon for our youth that mass consumption, contempt for the weak and to the culture, generalized amnesia extreme competition of all against all. " A non-violent revolt against the phenomenon of globalization of economy and financial markets, eroding the welfare societies of Western countries, and to break up and destroy the social fabric of whole societies of the South.

A peaceful insurrection entertain the hope for the future and humanity itself.
